Lamborghini Aventador SVJ Exhaust

Some projects are about preservation. Others are about evolution.

This Aventador SVJ Roadster landed at Wistar Motors with a very clear objective from its owner: more sound, more presence, and something truly bespoke. The SVJ is already one of the most extreme expressions of Lamborghini’s naturally aspirated V12 era, but from the factory, even this car leaves room for interpretation.

Finished in Oros Elios, the SVJ Roadster arrived as an ideal candidate for something we had been wanting to develop for some time — our first Wistar Motors–spec custom exhaust system.

The Starting Point

The Aventador SVJ’s exhaust layout is a tightly packaged, heat-managed system designed to meet modern emissions and noise regulations while living directly beneath a massive V12 and active aero components. Accessing it is not a simple “unbolt and replace” job.

Disassembly: Getting to the Heart of the SVJ

Accessing the exhaust on an Aventador SVJ Roadster requires removing far more than just heat shields. The process begins with the rear deck, top hatch assembly, and rear bumper which must be removed to gain working clearance. This involves carefully disconnecting the active aero components, rear vents, and surrounding carbon fiber panels. Every fastener, clip, and sensor is cataloged — these cars leave no room for shortcuts.

Once the top hatch, deck, and bumper are removed, attention turns to the factory exhaust system and muffler assembly. Lamborghini packages the SVJ’s exhaust extremely tightly around the rear subframe, rear suspension components, and heat shielding. Multiple layers of shielding must be removed in sequence, each designed to protect surrounding carbon fiber and composite materials from exhaust heat.

With the shielding removed, the factory muffler and exhaust sections can finally be unbolted and pulled out as a unit.

Designing the Wistar Motors Exhaust

This project marked the first custom exhaust system developed specifically under the Wistar Motors name.

The idea was simple. Create an aggressive, unapologetic, valved exhaust, reduced restriction, and clean integration with factory mounting points.

The system was designed and fabricated with these goals in mind, prioritizing flow and acoustic character over compromise. Tubing layout, merge points, and overall geometry were developed specifically for the SVJ platform to extract as much presence as possible from the naturally aspirated V12.

The Result

The finished result is exactly what the customer asked for — and then some. The sound is raw, violent, and unmistakably V12, with a sharper, more immediate response throughout the rev range. On overrun and aggressive throttle inputs, the exhaust delivers visible flames, adding a visceral layer of theater that matches the SVJ’s character perfectly.

This Aventador SVJ Roadster represents a milestone for us — the debut of a Wistar Motors custom exhaust, developed to our standards and built for drivers who want something beyond the ordinary.
